Celebrating the Love of the Sport in the Month of Love

Team Kraken has been busy lately. Not only we participated in two novelty races last month, but also at the annual Century Race last Sunday. The race this year had different levels of final: Gold, Diamond and Platinum. At least one category we took part in ended winning in Diamond.

This hundred-metre sprint at Jurong Lake has always had its challenges, seeing that it is not easy to navigate the muddy water with lines of buoys which can be interpreted differently from different angles and the short runway after the finish line. But on the race day, it was windy and rainy and the combination caused the many incidents in the water.

Nevertheless, Team Kraken was in high spirits. Our PA GRO Mixed boat was the only one powered by (several) Seniors. Yet, we managed to outperform two other boats and got in to final. Our Women boat was powered by our youngsters and they did well enough to win the Diamond final.

One member, Juraimi, remarked that he was impressed with the results, considering the margins in timing with the boats of young paddlers were very close. Coach GW echoed a similar sentiment albeit reminding us to work harder next time.

So, all in all it was a good day at the lake. And we would like to thank Punggol Coast CSN for the support, Coach GW, Coach Zul, all exco and our paddlers for giving it their all. Also our coxwains for keeping us straight and safe.

Best timing:

PA GRO Mixed 36.035

Century Women 38.051
