A New Old Pesta Sukan

The annual sports festival which preludes our National Day is underway. The Pesta Sukan for dragon boat was held over the past weekend. The all-inclusive dragon boat race was held in various categories and Team Kraken participated in six! Thanks to Exco, Team Manger Hamdan, Coach Terence and Coach Zul, all the boats did well if not better than during all the training sessions.

Despite the hot sunny weather and rather choppy waters, everyone was in high spirits - even the Team Nila volunteers who charcoalized before our eyes. The race is managed in a new way, thankfully with a pontoon start. Team's tent space allocation was small and expired in half a day, but the moving and resetting-up went relatively efficiently. All in all, the race experience was good - only next time need to add more standing umbrellas on the pontoon. Definitely need more than two.

Member Angela remarked that the team had fun and was composed on the water, only need to keep pushing stronger and reduce timing. TM Hamdan added that for next races we will train more on the final burst. Our young ones under the tutelage of Coach Zul rejoiced over the first-time participation in a 2-km race and their 09:46:53 minute achievement in it. Well done, girls!

Thank you Punggol Coast CSN for your continued support. Our next race will be IHH Singapore Sea Regatta in September.

Fun Fact: This Pesta Sukan marked the promotion of Shirley into Senior boat, and Juraimi into Master boat!
